This week the City Corporation’s Policy and Resources Committee met for an extra ordinary meeting. During the meeting Ward of Cheap Councillor Tijs Broeke proposed that the Ukrainian Ambassador to the UK would be nominated to receive the Freedom of the City of London to honour the people of the Ukraine standing up for democracy and against agression. This was approved unanimously.
This is in addition to a £25,000 donation from the City Corporation to UNICEF, and full support to implement HM Government’s sanctions. The Policy Chair also reiterated that our position was against Putin’s regime, not ordinary Russian citizens.
