It’s an honour to represent the Ward of Cheap and to work together as a united team of active local representatives. We look forward meeting City workers, businesses and residents on 20 March at 1pm at our Wardmote – an ancient meeting of citizens in the City of London to explain what we have done over the past 12 months to help accelerate economic growth and ensure the Square Mile remains internationally competitive and locally vibrant.

Robert as our Alderman supports the Lord Mayor’s work as ambassador for the City; recently he joined the Anglo-Irish Sovereign Wealth Fund meetings at Mansion House, and gave the Lord Mayor’s opening address at the 10th Livery Education conference. Alastair focused his time on chairing the Corporation’s Corporate Services Committee securing a staff pay settlement and EDI refresh. He was also re-appointed on the Cheapside Business Alliance board – promoting Cheapside as a vibrant place. Nick has focussed on improving the efficiency of the City’s finances and investments. He chairs the investments for the City affiliated school, Christ’s Hospital. Within the Ward of Cheap the focus has been on helping a variety of workers, firms and livery companies with day-to-day issues. Locally, Tijs has worked hard to get a new square near old BT building approved. As Vice Chair at the City Corporation he deputised for the Police Chair and represented the City in Parliament.

Key priority for Tijs  – supported by the Ward of Cheap team – remains to ensure we keep the City safe, as deputy chair of the City’s Police Authority Board. Our efforts have been successful. Last year the City Police relaunched its cycling capability to help combat phone snatching, as well as other offences like, shoplifting, drug and road offences. The cycle response unit is highly visible, approachable and able to quickly get through areas inaccessible to vehicles. In July 2022, there was a record high of 148 mobile phones stolen. In July 2023 the police reduced the number dramatically to 44. This shows a back to basics approach of neighbourhood policing works.
