Nick Bensted-Smith

Nick read Economics and Politics before starting a 30+ year City career in investment management, which he combined initially with being an elected member of the City of London Corporation.

Nick was a partner of Sarasin & Partners LLP  and Deputy Chairman of the Partnership. He is a Justice of the Peace, sitting in Kent and also a school governor, in both the public and private sectors.

As well as being an elected Common Councilman for the Ward of Cheap, Nick is actively engaged in the fields of education, investment management, the City Police and the courts. His key focus more recently has been on helping shape the City Corporation’s approach to tackling climate change within its long term investment portfolios, as member of the investment and finance committees.

He is a Liveryman and Court Assistant of the Worshipful Company of Loriners, a Liveryman of the Goldsmiths and served as President ofThe Ward of Cheap Club in 2022.
